All About ME
Hello Parents & Friends!
I would like to take the time to introduce myself to you. My name is Monica Richards. I am a native of East Tennessee, and we currently live in Afton. My husband, Randy, is the principal at Baileyton Elementary School. We have 3 sons; Hunter-15, Colton-12, and Alston-8. As a family, we spend a lot of time outdoors and involved in athletic activities. My favorite sports are soccer and baseball, but I enjoy them all. I like to hunt, fish, ride horses, and go camping. ,I enjoy antiques too. I love horses and wolves. I want to travel west to Montana and Wyoming. I also love the BEACH/ocean!
As for my background and educational journey... I graduated from Tusculum College with my BA degree in Business Management. After a few years I to returned to college and earned my MEd from Milligan in Education, concentrating in Early Childhood. I spent time at Woodland Elementary in Johnson City, TN. Then, in 2006 I joined Doak Elementary here in Greene County. A few years later I made the transfer to West Pines. I have spent time at Ottway Elementary as well in 2012-2013 and returned the following year to WPES. Just a couple years ago I attended and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University with my Ed.S in Administration. I have been involved with WPES until this year and I have now returned back to school once again to earn a MS in Speech Language Pathology from ETSU. This journey allows me to serve 3 of our county schools, Baileyton, WPES, and NGHS. This is my 15th year in education, and I love working with children.
I am very eager to grow with all my new friends. I look forward to a great year. My goals are to help your child develop their skills, learn to use and follow the guidelines of our system wide Character Counts program, follow our school and classroom rules (by expecting their personal best), help your child grow as a student, and also to grow as an educator.
