Classroom Information & Expectations

The most important person in your child’s life is YOU. You are his/her first teacher and role model. Your child values what you value. Reading/writing at home, practicing sight words, working on math skills, asking your child about the school day, and checking their backpack daily all help your child succeed.

Student Computers:
Our school is now 1:1 with student computers. This means all students have and will use their (own) assigned computers at school and at home for homework assignments. Students are to bring their computers back and forth to school each day. PLEASE make sure your child’s computer is fully charged each morning as students will NOT be allowed to share computer chargers with others.

Student Absences:
Daily reading, math, and phonics assignments will be posted in our online classroom for students to complete when absent.

Daily Homework:
All homework assignments will be posted in our online classroom weekly under the Homework tab. Homework assignments will consist of computer and written/reading assignments. Consistency and routines are key.
Reminder: Homework is for students to complete and for parents to check over, make sure all is completed, and assist as needed but not done for students. Homework not only helps students to improve academic skills in the same way basketball practice improves basketball skills, but it also helps teach students a variety of life skills such as responsibility, self-discipline, a sense of accomplishment when setting and meeting goals, builds stamina and/or staying power, practice leads to progress, &, etc...

Student Daily Folders:

Your child will have a daily home folder that is to be brought to school daily. It will contain a variety of resources that can assist with homework throughout the school year. It will include a daily behavior chart that students and I will fill out at the end of each day. My goal is that together- WE can nip undesired behaviors in the bud very quickly! I have found that most kids will tell the truth about behavior when parents ask AND students know we are all on the same TEAM for their good and for the good of their friends.

Communications:
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns. I use Dojo as my primary means of communication and to pass along classroom and school information since most parents are familiar with it. I try to check Dojo and my email throughout the day; however, sometimes we do get busy, and I may not see messages/emails until later. I will get back to you as soon as I can. If you contact me after school hours via Dojo or email, then it could be the following day before I respond. I am also a wife, mom, and nanna 😊 after school hours.
If you have a CHANGE in what your child is doing for dismissal at the end of the day, and you message me AND I DO NOT REPLY to let you know I SAW your MESSAGE---PLEASE CALL THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND TELL THEM (234-6411), SO WE WILL KNOW HOW YOUR CHILD IS TO GO HOME.
Also, I will send out a Dojo message in an event of any school dismissal changes including buses not running as soon as I am made aware.

Accelerated Reader (AR):
Our class participates in the AR program. Please refer to Mrs. Laws' AR requirements for the end-of-the-year AR reward trip, which are different from the K-1 requirements.

Always remember to...

DREAM BIG!

If we can’t dream it, then we can’t expect it or have it!

I’m dreaming and expecting a wonderful year full of love, learning, & the love of learning!!!
