Second Grade Smarties
Daily Schedule:
  ELA 8:00-10:30
  Math 10:30-11:15 & 12:15-1:00
  Lunch and Recess 11:15-12:15
  Specials 1:00-2:00
  Math Practice & Misc. Work 2:00-2:50
  Dismissal 2:40-3:15
 
 
ACCELERATED READER:
  • This year we are reading during our ELA rotations each day. The students also have time to read in library on Tuesday and Thursday. In addition to this time at school ALL my students should have a book at home each night to read in for a few minutes.
  • My expectation is for them to pass 2 test per week with 80% or higher.
  • After so many books students at higher reading levels will have to read longer books in order for them to count toward their reward trip. 
  • In addition to this, we are working to meet a number of books read not a points goal this year. Not all second grade teachers pick this option. Reach out to me if you would like more information on this.
  • On Friday if a child has below an 80 average for the week I try to let them have some time to work to bring this average up.
