Children love non-fiction text because they can relate to real world experiences. Read to your child and talk about the text, connecting the two will build comprehension.

Having conversations with your child is a part of literacy. You are the first teacher and the most influential part of your child's life! The single most important thing you can do is give your child the LOVE for reading. Turn off the tube and all electronics and spend time reading and talking to your young child. Books matter and literacy is important! Help us instill the love for reading at home, be their first teacher!
